July 2006 DevLab moves to new permanent home
Whitireia DevLab has been setup in a new location. We now have a permanent home in the building that used to house the Mana Education Centre. The student projects are running in the new location, and we have a large group working on projects using technologies from MS .Net web applications, to components built using PHP and MYSQL for open source projects.
December 2004 DevLab moves house
Whitireia DevLab has officially left the Porirua greenhouse and is now temporarily located at the Whitireia Mohuia Crescent Campus. Projects are continuing in the new location.
May 21, 2003 Whitireia DEVLAB receives funding Grant from the Polytechnic Regional Development Fund
Whitireia Community Polytechnic received a funding grant from the second round of funding under the Polytechnic Regional Development Fund to further develop the DEVLAB. The grant of $78,500 is targeted to support the ICT industry in Wellington region and assist ICT graduates find relevant employment or create new businesses.
March 25, 2003 Whitireia DotNet Link evolves from VBUG
Whitireia DEVLAB hosts the inaugural meeting of DotNet Link. This user group for local developers was first started in 1995 as VBUG, Visual Basic User Group. This group has met on a monthly basis providing critical links between industry and Whitireia Community Polytechnic. With the introduction of Microsoft dot net, the group decided to widen the focus beyond Visual Basic and become a Dot Net developers user group. The new group is DotNet Link and meets on the first Thursday of each month at the DEVLAB
December 6, 2002 Whitireia DEVLAB officially launched
Whitireia DEVLAB was officially launched today. The launch was attended by supporters, employers, students and staff who have been involved in the collaborative projects completed by the first graduates of the Whitireia Bachelor of Information Technology. The DEVLAB has been critical in supporting the students complete these Industry projects during the last semester, providing development resources to the project teams.
